A 50th birthday party this afternoon ….
Yes, I probably over-ate, but no I am not feeling guilty. I’ll eat what I want in moderation. So instead of eating two pieces of cake, I had one.

but shortly after I posted last night about running this morning, it was brought to my attention that it was my job to shovel out our fire pit today. I didn’t want to overdo it, so I skipped the run in favor of the arm workout. My arms burned. Ssssssszzzzzz. That’s the sound of a sizzle, people. Burned. And not from flames. It took two little trailers full of ash to empty the fire pit. We don’t have your average rinky-dinky fire pit, no, we go big out here. For sure.
Also, it is approximately 89 degrees outside, so I’m inside now on break. Also, I drank at least 7 cups of water today. Wowza.
I’m mentally prepping myself for this. I haven’t run in about 2 weeks… I’m trying to hydrate a lot. And mentally psych myself up to actually waking up at 6:30am to get ready to go. Here’s to trying! Any motivating words? Anyone?
You’re working your ass off. You’re running every morning. You’re eating well. You’re eating enough but not too much. You’re busting your ass in every single workout, pushing to your threshold, pouring sweat, but you’re not seeing any results.
Maybe it hasn’t been long enough. Or maybe, just maybe, you’re staring at your abs and not paying attention to your perfectly defined thighs, your beastly biceps, or your seriously sexy back.
One day you’re going to be putting your hair up and notice your biceps bulge in the mirror. You’ll turn around to check out your gnarly sunburn and watch the flex of your triceps and traps. You’ll see a picture of yourself reaching for something and be blown away by the definition in your legs and the cut of your thighs.
You’re working for it and it’s working. Sometimes your body is changing more rapidly than you can shed fat. It’s going to come up and smack you out of nowhere. You’re going to laugh at yourself when you attempt decline pushups with your feet on a bench, then bang out 40 of them without breaking a sweat.
It’s happening even if you can’t see it. Your body is evolving and changing. Give it the respect it deserves. Give it a chance to become visible. You worked for it. Don’t throw that away. You DESERVE to see it.

Banana shake for breakfast, Cleaning all day.
My shake recipe:
4 ice cubes
pour enough milk in to cover the ice cubes 3/4 of the way
1 banana
1 spoonful of peanut butter
a dusting of cocoa powder
It’s not exact, I know that. You can tailor it to fit your tastes. Then blend that shit up until it’s smooth. Yum.
Sooooo silly me did not think about timing when I decided it would be GREAT to go on a bike ride. An hour later, I got home. Exhausted. Sweaty. Thirsty. Starving.
Luckily, I GRADUATED YESTERDAY so I had leftovers from our celebratory graduation dinner (fettuccine with seafood!). Not healthy, but yummy. I also had four bites left of celebratory turtle cheesecake. Tomorrow, back to good, cleaner foods. I’m planning to have a banana shake for breakfast. Mmm. :)
I laid out today by the lake. Wish I took a photo so I could show all of you… oops maybe Thursday if it’s still nice here. Here’s an old picture from March of the view:

I got some sun, a little pink, but that’ll turn to tan soon. I’m hydrating more and I feel a lot better. Tonight friends and I are just hanging out, but tomorrow is CEDAR POINT! Woo! All day trip. Hope the weather stays clear!
